The Opportunity
Otter Wise Talent Solutions is recruiting experienced Industrial Journeyperson Carpenters for a major industrial construction project in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
This opportunity is ideal for experienced Journeyperson Carpenters who have worked in large industrial construction environments and bring strong hands-on experience with structural concrete formwork.
Our client is looking for skilled tradespeople who understand industrial safety, can confidently read and interpret drawings and specifications, and take pride in completing high-quality work safely and efficiently.

The Opportunity
Otter Wise Talent Solutions is recruiting Industrial Formwork Carpenter Apprentices for a major industrial construction project in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
We are currently seeking 3rd and 4th Year Carpenter Apprentices with hands-on experience in industrial construction and structural concrete formwork.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced apprentices who are comfortable working on large industrial construction sites and want to continue developing their trade alongside experienced Journeyperson Carpenters and field leadership.
The work will primarily involve the construction, installation, and removal of structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams, shafts, and other structural components.
Compensation
Apprentice rates are based on apprenticeship level and the applicable percentage of the $49.38/hour rate:
1st Year Apprentice – 60%: $29.63/hour
2nd Year Apprentice – 70%: $34.57/hour
3rd Year Apprentice – 80%: $39.50/hour
4th Year Apprentice – 90%: $44.44/hour
Current hiring priority is 3rd and 4th Year Apprentices.
Overtime is paid in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, erect, and remove structural formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams, and shafts
- Interpret and work from construction drawings and specifications
- Assist with and complete layout, measuring, marking, and material preparation
- Select appropriate materials and plan work sequences
- Cut, shape, assemble, and install construction materials
- Check completed work to ensure it is level, square, plumb, properly sized, and correctly located
- Perform general industrial carpentry activities, including framing, hoarding, doors, frames, and related work
- Work closely with Journeyperson Carpenters, Forepersons, and other trades
- Follow established industrial safety procedures and project requirements
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, productivity, and safety
- Continue developing trade knowledge and practical skills toward Journeyperson certification
What You Bring
The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in the carpentry trade and has already gained meaningful experience working in an industrial construction environment.
Qualifications include:
- Registered 3rd or 4th Year Carpenter Apprentice
- Previous industrial construction experience
- Strong structural concrete formwork experience
- Experience working with concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams, shafts, or similar structural components
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Experience with layout, measuring, cutting, and material preparation
- Strong understanding of industrial construction safety requirements
- Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a construction crew
- Ability to work independently when required
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions
- Ability to safely lift and work with materials weighing up to 25 kg
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Required Certifications
Candidates should have current:
- CSTS 2020
- WHMIS 2015
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space Entry Monitor
Candidates may also be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screen and/or criminal record check.
