The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Control (QC) Supervisor to lead laboratory operations and quality assurance programs supporting the production of sand, gravel, and crushed stone products.
Reporting to the Manager of Quality, Environment and Land, this leadership position is responsible for supervising Quality Control Laboratory Technicians, maintaining quality management systems, ensuring products consistently meet customer specifications, and driving continuous improvement across quality processes.

Responsibilities
Quality Leadership
- Lead all quality control activities to ensure products consistently meet internal quality standards and customer specifications.
- Oversee aggregate sampling, laboratory testing, and documentation.
- Review laboratory test results against specifications, tolerances, and quality targets.
- Identify quality trends and communicate deviations to operations in a timely manner.
- Ensure corrective actions are implemented, monitored, and verified.
Laboratory Management
- Supervise, mentor, schedule, and coordinate the activities of Quality Control Laboratory Technicians.
- Manage daily laboratory operations and testing workflows.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration schedules, and testing accuracy.
- Support internal and external audits while ensuring laboratory audit readiness.
- Maintain laboratory records and regulatory documentation.
Quality Management Systems
- Develop, implement, and maintain:
- Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Document Control Programs
- Quality Reporting Standards
- Maintain accurate testing records and quality documentation.
Continuous Improvement
- Partner closely with operations and production teams to improve product quality.
- Investigate root causes of quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives across quality systems and laboratory processes.
- Establish routine reporting metrics and quality performance indicators.
- Support operational excellence through data-driven decision making.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout laboratory and production operations.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience supervising quality control activities within one or more of the following:
- Aggregate operations
- Mining
- Quarry operations
- Construction materials
- Asphalt production
- Concrete production
- Industrial manufacturing
- Experience leading laboratory technicians or quality teams.
- Strong understanding of aggregate testing methods and material specifications.
- Experience developing or maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment calibration and quality documentation.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience using quality databases and reporting software is considered an asset.
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive hourly wage of $40.00 - $55.00, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Overtime pay (1.5x) after 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week.
- Rotational schedules may be available (5/2, 10/4, 14/7, 21/7) depending on project requirements.
- Travel and accommodation assistance may be provided for eligible projects.
- Vacation pay and statutory holiday pay in accordance with applicable legislation and agreements.

- Combination of laboratory, plant, and field environments.
- Regular collaboration with production and operations teams.
- Exposure to aggregate plants, industrial facilities, and varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional outdoor work within quarry and production environments.
- Fast-paced environment focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
