The Opportunity
Otter Wise Talent Solutions is proud to partner with a leading Canadian industrial construction organization to recruit an experienced Millwright Superintendent – Industrial Construction supporting major industrial projects throughout Western Canada.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, this position is responsible for leading the execution of industrial millwright and mechanical construction scopes across large-scale industrial projects. You will oversee field operations, supervise crews and subcontractors, coordinate equipment installations, maintain project schedules, ensure quality workmanship, and champion a strong culture of safety.

Key Responsibilities
Construction Leadership
- Lead field execution of millwright and mechanical construction scopes from mobilization through project completion.
- Participate in constructability reviews and project planning activities.
- Coordinate labour, equipment, subcontractors, vendors, and materials.
- Develop and manage construction schedules and short-term look-ahead plans.
- Monitor project progress and identify schedule risks.
- Support project change management and field execution planning.
- Ensure construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and within project timelines.
Mechanical & Millwright Operations
- Supervise the installation, alignment, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment.
- Coordinate rotating equipment installation and precision alignment activities.
- Lead rigging, hoisting, and heavy equipment installation operations.
- Support commissioning, startup, and turnover activities.
- Oversee troubleshooting of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Ensure all work complies with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Promote and maintain a proactive safety-first culture.
- Lead toolbox talks and field safety initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all client safety requirements and applicable regulations.
- Monitor workmanship and ensure all work meets project quality standards.
- Support inspections, testing, commissioning, and turnover documentation.
- Promote continuous improvement in safety, quality, and field execution.
Leadership & Client Support
- Mentor Forepersons, Journeypersons, Apprentices, and field personnel.
- Foster a respectful, collaborative, and high-performing work environment.
- Coordinate closely with Project Management, Engineering, Quality, and Project Controls.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Support workforce development through coaching and technical leadership.
Qualifications
- Minimum five (5) years of industrial construction experience with a strong focus on millwright or mechanical construction scopes.
- Previous Superintendent, General Foreperson, or senior supervisory experience.
- Extensive experience installing, aligning, maintaining, and commissioning rotating equipment.
- Experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding of industrial rigging and lifting practices.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
- Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience within one or more of the following industries is considered a strong asset:
- Heavy Industrial Construction
- Mining
- Oil & Gas
- Petrochemical
- Power Generation
- Manufacturing
- Water & Wastewater
- Industrial Maintenance
- Turnarounds & Shutdowns
The following qualifications are also considered strong assets:
- Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Certification.
- Fly-In/Fly-Out project experience.
- Experience supervising union and non-union workforces.
- Experience on large industrial capital projects.
- Valid driver's licence.
Technical Skills
Experience with the following is considered an asset:

- Primavera P6
- Construction scheduling software
- Digital field reporting systems
- Construction document management platforms

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive salary of $130,000 - $165,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Environment & Travel
- Full-time permanent position supporting projects throughout Western Canada.
- Site-based role requiring travel to industrial construction projects.
- Fly-In/Fly-Out and rotational project assignments.
- Typical rotations include:
- 14 Days On / 7 Days Off
- 10 Days On / 4 Days Off
- Collaborative environment working alongside Construction Management, Engineering, Project Controls, and Operations teams.
